ABOUT Matt Rutter

Professional Photographer and Digital Artist in Cleveland, Ohio

A man with wavy brown hair and a beard sitting on a wooden stool against a plain wall, wearing a brown jacket, white shirt, dark pants, and white sneakers.
I’m a Cleveland photographer and digital artist who cares about creating work with intention and presence. My journey began in the Needham High School darkroom with my dad’s Canon A‑1. Watching images appear in the tray sparked a lifelong interest in photography and taught me the value of patience, craft, and paying attention.

I rediscovered photography in 2013 with a Sony NEX‑3N while traveling. Those early experiences shaped how I see light, composition, and story. When COVID arrived, I invested in full‑frame gear and refined my approach. Today, I blend a documentary mindset with imaginative elements to create images that feel honest, expressive, and grounded.

I’m also the founder of Forest City Collective, a photography community in Cleveland that brings creatives together to learn, collaborate, and grow. Community has always been a meaningful part of my work, and it continues to influence how I create and connect.
My creative world now includes event and concert photography, digital art, UGC collaborations, personal projects like Project 365, and educational work like my SEO course and From Clicks to Clients. Whether I’m photographing a corporate event, creating art, or building community, my goal is simple: create work that resonates and leaves a lasting impression.

How I work

I listen first. I care about clarity, intention, and delivering work that reflects each client’s vision. I want every project to feel thoughtful, collaborative, and grounded in real connection.
